Here's what's actually worth your time.
1. Hike into Chino Hills State Park
Nearly 14,100 acres of rolling grassland and oak woodland right at the edge of town. Bane Canyon and Telegraph Canyon are the classic entry points, and in a good rain year the wildflower bloom along the ridgelines in spring is the best free show in the county.
2. Walk The Shoppes at Chino Hills
An open-air town center built around Trevi Lane and a central fountain — Harkins Theatres, Barnes & Noble, Trader Joe's and a rotating lineup of restaurants. It functions as the closest thing the city has to a downtown, and it's genuinely pleasant to just walk on a weekend evening.
3. Redwoods at Carbon Canyon Regional Park
A small grove of coast redwoods, planted decades ago and now genuinely towering, sits inside this county park along with a lake and easy loop trails. It's an odd, wonderful surprise this far from the coast.
4. Concerts in the Park
Chino Hills Community Park hosts a free summer concert series that pulls out lawn chairs and picnic blankets from every neighborhood in town. Get there early for a spot near the stage.
5. Tee off at Los Serranos Golf & Country Club
Thirty-six holes dating back to 1925, making it one of the oldest golf clubs in the region. Two courses, mature trees, and a clubhouse that still feels like the original.
6. Big League Dreams Sports Park
Replica major-league ballparks scaled down for youth and adult leagues, plus batting cages and an arcade. On tournament weekends the parking lot alone tells you how big this is for local families.
7. Ride at McCoy Equestrian & Recreation Center
A reminder that Chino Hills still has a working horse culture — arenas, trails and events that connect back to the area's ranching history.
8. Chino Hills Community Park
Sports fields, a skate park, a dog park and shaded picnic areas in one large complex near City Hall. It's the default answer for 'where do we take the kids.'
9. Vellano Country Club views
A hillside private club with some of the best panoramic views in the city — worth knowing about even if you're only driving past on Vellano Parkway at sunset.
10. Planes of Fame Air Museum
A short drive to Chino Airport puts you at one of the best vintage-aircraft collections in the country, with WWII fighters and bombers that still fly at the annual air show.
11. Four Corners inside the state park
A longer, more serious hike where several canyon trails converge deep inside Chino Hills State Park. A real workout with a genuine sense of remoteness, minutes from suburban streets.

A weekly farmers market sets up alongside the regular retail crowd — produce, prepared food and live music that turns a shopping trip into an outing.
